An Afternoon of Creativity, Presence and Connection

On Sunday July 5, St Martin’s Chapel in Blackwood was filled with a quiet sense of calm and creativity as a group gathered for a meditative art session led by Robyn Zanon.
The session began with a gentle guided meditation, inviting participants to slow down, settle into the present moment, and approach the creative process with curiosity rather than expectation. There was no pressure to produce anything “good” or artistic—simply an invitation to relax, become more aware of the moment, and allow creativity to emerge naturally.
Following the meditation, Robyn guided the group step-by-step through the creation of their own unique artworks. With warmth and encouragement, she helped participants explore colour, shape and expression in a way that was both accessible and deeply engaging. No previous artistic experience was required, and the process itself was as important as the finished piece.
As the session unfolded, the chapel became a space of quiet concentration, reflection and enjoyment. What emerged was remarkable: a diverse collection of artworks, each reflecting the individuality and creativity of its maker. Despite everyone following the same basic process, no two pieces were alike. Participants commented on how relaxing they found the experience.
We are grateful to Robyn for sharing her gifts and creating such a thoughtful and enriching experience. It was a beautiful reminder that creativity is not reserved for artists—it is something that lives within all of us, waiting to be discovered when we slow down and make space for it.
